Hey there,

Today was the first day of the 'training camp' for Sec 1s. The Sec 3s were in charge but everything was overlooked by the ex-cos.

Went to school at 8.40am, and saw Kamal, Hong Zheng, and Jeremy playing soccer. We then headed down to the field to play soccer. Oh, and I played tennis with Kamal. We were joined by Aaron, Gerald, and Joshua later.

At 9.15am, we went to the parade ground for fall in.

We started the day off with icebreaker games. Jeremy's group was in charge. The games in the carpark all so lame, haha. Later, we went to the field to play soccer and captain-ball.

Next, we had a 10 minute break followed by foot drill. It was taken by Joshua's group.

After foot drill, my group went to buy lunch. We wasted alot of time, trying to find a halal chicken rice store. In the end, we found out we didn't have enough money, so Ray had to run over the pass us some money. Zhen Hui, Jia Wei, and I sat down for about 30 minutes waiting for them to prepare the 42 packets of chicken rice.

When we came back, Mr. Sukit was already in school. So we hurry ate, and went in the band room to prepare. The seniors sat beside the juniors while they played to help them. We also went through some tunes from Standard of Excellence.

Then at 4.40pm, we were dismissed.

Band practice yesterday. Being a Wednesday, we had sectionals as usual.

Each section went off with the sec 1s to teach them. Melvin and I taught the horns. Now I have two juniors called Roland and Jeremy, haha. After about at hour of practice, they can play C, D, E, F, G, A.

Everything is going smoothly so far for MSSMB. Now, lets hope the new recruits don't leave the band.

Arrival of the new blood

Damn, my internet browser suddenly closed on its own. Sadly, i was almost at the end. Well, i guess i'll just have to type everything out again.

Band again after school. At 2.30pm, those who didn't have anymore classes came down to the band room to help prepare for the Sec 1 'audition'. Actually, its just a little thing to determine the sections for the new sec 1s.

At 3.00pm, the Sec 1s who wrote their names on the sign-up form during CCA Day started pouring in. 27 of them showed up, i think. Woodwinds on one side and Brass on the other. They were to try out the instruments and if they could make a sound, they would get a tick on this form.

I have to say that this year's recruitment is much better than last years. We even have one Alto Saxophonist and one Trumpeter from their primary school's band. Oh, we also have one Hornist, but he joined during P1 and quit the same year. He can't even hold the horn properly so it doesn't really count, does it?

And two trouble-makers decided to leave for NPCC. One kept going rounds and trying the instruments over and over again. The other took a pen and ticked everything without trying any, Geez.

After the sec 1s left, we had instrument maintenance. I remember the last time we did this was during June of 2005, just before M8.

After everything was done, we were dismissed.
