Hello. Didn't blog for so long already. Somehow I don't feel the urge to post nowadays.

12 days till my first and probably only SYF. Tomorrow there'll be a band exchange with Whitley Secondary. And they will be recording our SYF pieces for us to listen. And there's another one next Saturday. Some schools involved will be Montfort, Whitley, Chung Cheng, Marsiling, Maris Stella, and St. Gabriels.

About today. In the morning after assembly, all sec 3 classes remained in the parade square to do the reflections thing for the sec 3 level camp 2 weeks ago. Didn't pay much attention though, since Ignatius and I were playing hangman on my notebook.

Free period later. Finished the E Math homework and slacked off. Finally a not so boring lesson during physics.

After recess we had E Math. Nothing much to comment about.

School was dismissed at 12.30pm so we could prepare for the sports day later on at 2.15pm. Went home to shower and eat, then went to Hougang Stadium. By the way, it rained through the 1st quarter of the event. Quite surprised that none of the runners fell. I'm not going to elaborate about the sports day because it was so damn boring. The event ended at 6pm.

There's only 15 days more

Haha, the weekend is already over. Back to school.

It was raining in the morning so we had morning assembly in the hall. We went to our classes to put our bags down first. In the hall, we did the usual stuff before Mr. Simen came up to talk. He introduced a principal from one of Brunei's secondary schools and she will be attached to MSS until mid-september. Forgot her name, but i know it's awfully long.

Today was quite slack, cause there wasn't much teaching. Got back the geog test 2 paper. I got 10/15. For math, we learnt coordinate geometry. A relief teacher took over Mrs. Lee's english lesson today for some unknown reason. She went through the homework and we read the newspapers. History lesson was canceled again as Mr. Lloyd Yeo went to the hospital to visit a brother. Bio lesson was canceled cause Mr. Azman had to go for reservist/re-service, dunno what. It seems that we have already missed 4-5 history lessons. And for bio, i could only recall going for 3-4 lessons. The rest were canceled. Lucky we're the only class taken by them so they will be the ones setting the exam.

Band. Did the last part of FOTF and went through Sunrise. At least now got an obvious improvement. Everyone can play the notes and know the rhythm, so it doesn't sound so bad. Now we just have to work on dynamics, articulation and expression.

Yo.

Finally went to SSW after three weeks. Didn't go on 03/03 cause had Physics lesson and then *ahem sectionals. Didn't go on the 10/03 because of the band camp. And didn't go on 17/03 because I just came back from the level camp the previous day and was damn tired, lol.

Even though there wasn't any choice, I regretted not going. Played very badly today, and was corrected by Mr. Ng lots of times. But now that I have the 3rd Symphony score, can practice at home.

Theory lesson in the morning on intervals, chords, and triads. We were told to go buy a theory excercise book by Lina Ng. I'll get it the next time I visit Yamaha or something.

After a 15 minutes break, we started with the first movement of 3rd Symphony. Oh, Fikri came back during lunch to get a method book from Samuel. After lunch, we went through the second and third movement.

After practice, ate with Fikri and the Montfort guys at the cafeteria. He is taking leave until May this year because of 'O' levels. Guess we won't be seeing him for quite awhile. After having our munchies, we took 169 back to Ang Mo Kio interchange. Fikri went off the check out the new AMK Hub while the rest of us took 74 back to Hougang.

By the way, anyone willing to join SSW after SYF? We have a serious lack of members now cause most are taking 'O' levels this year. And we are having a concert with SWO this July, so we need more players.

Back to school. Today was ok la.

Stayed with CL class today as Mr. Lum was away. Did physics homework, ha.

Elective geog, then E math. We did chapter 5 during physics. Turning effects of force.

Mr. Azman wasn't in school so no Bio. Skipped off to band.

Entering the band room, I spotted 3 new horns laying in the corner of the band room, wow. Registered the horn with Ms. Ong before using it. Anyway, the horn is Hanstone HT-206. Hanstone... some unheard of brand. Made from yellow brass and has a detachable bell. Playing wise, it's something like a H179. And I love the case, it's makes carrying the horn around much easier. There's 2 new flutes, one buffet oboe, a conn bass trombone, and a YBS-62E bari sax.

That's all.

Hi, I'm back from the Sec 3 level camp.

Can't tell you how happy I am to be finally away that grueling place. I don't know how to explain it, but it was damn tiring. We walked 32km from Changi to Bukit Panjang from 3am in the morning to 5pm, 14 hours! Then the next day we kayak-ed for 3-4 hours in the hot sun. Sunburn like hell.

Never mind, I shall elaborate in detail day by day.

Day 1

Arrived at school at 7.20am. After everyone arrived and some admin matters, the bus left for Changi Sea Sports club. We reached there at around 11am. We were split into groups, some for land expedition and the others for sea expedition. The first day was quite slack. We started off by introducing ourselves and playing team games. Later, we cooked our own lunch of noodles, broccoli, pineapple strips, and potatoes.

Later we had camp craft. My group built this laundry thing which also can put shoes to dry. Quite cool actually.

Then all the groups gathered. The camp facilitator gave us garbage bags to pick up litter. A prize of two bottles of Sprite and a box of Oreo were given to the group which collected the most rubbish. What a dirty way to motivate us, lol. In the end, the area was super clean.

Dinner was ok, though quite a small portion. Again we had to cook. Noodles, baked beans, and sausages. After that half of the group went to bathe while the other half did the orienteering for the 32km walk the next day. And vice versa later on.

After the debrief, lights out.

Day 2

Woke up at 2am. Gathered our foodstuff and started the 32km land expedition. The route was from Changi Sea Sports Club to the Montfort Center (Assumption English School).

Walked from Changi to Pasir Ris, our first checkpoint. We rest for 15 minutes before heading to Kovan through the old Tampines road. Stopped for breakfast somewhere near Ikea. Breakfast was an apple, and some biscuits. At Heartland Mall, we had another short break. We continued to Serangoon, then Bishan through the Braddell Road.

With low water supply, we carried on to MacRitchie Reservoir. Took the Lornie trail with the intention of exiting from the rifle range. Unfortunately, we met a dead end and walk back and exit through the ranger station. By 6pm, only a few groups made it to AES. The rest of us took the bus back to CSSC. We had to cook dinner again. Rice, carrots, eggs, and fish fingers.

Later, the groups going for sea expedition the next day gathered cause Mr. Tan wanted a talk with us. We separated into new groups then went to sleep.

We were woken up once at 12am and another at 4am to check attendance. At the 2nd check, several students were found missing. Apparently, they had ran home. Since one of the missing students were from our group, we had to stay back awhile so they could take our statements. Bleah, talk about deprivation of sleep.

Day 3

Woke up at 7am. Broke up into our groups and got on the bus to Pasir Ris Sea Sports Club.
Kayak-ed to Loyang where we had our lunch and back. We stopped for the day. We went back to Pasir Ris park where we set up our bashas (some tent-like thing). Finally, we had packet food for dinner. A lot of additional food also.

Day 4

The last day! We were awaken by the instructors and 6.30 I think. Ate breakfast and prepared to kayak again. This time, we kayak-ed to Coney Island. Played some games there before going back. We changed our clothes and took the bus back to CSSC. Once there, we packed all our things and ate lunch. And at long last, the bus came to bring us back to school.

The band camp is finally over.

I'm too lazy to talk about it, so i'll just copy from Aaron's blog (with a little edits here and there) :D

----------

Only slept 4 hours at most. The whole night, a few of us were playing badminton and running around sch. I woke up at 5.30. Went straight to bathe. The water so cold >.<

At 9am, we had sectionals till 12pm. Later had lunch. Came back and have sectionals again till 6pm. There were a few instructors. 1 for brass, 1 for woodwinds & 1 for percussion. Quite boring bah cause almost the whole day sectionals nia.

We were realeased for dinner after tt. Went with a group of ppl. Later went to 7-11 to buy some snacks. Bought cat food for Dickson's dinner LMAO. But in the end still buy real food. When we got back to sch, we tricked him tt his dinner was cat food.

Later was to maintain our instruments. Sean, Farihin & Kenneth guided us. Dismissed after that. ----------

Off to school tomorrow, then band camp. I'll be back Saturday night.

Contact me via handphone, sayonara.

Hi.

March Holiday is just around the corner. Sad to say that I'll be too busy with camps for a real holiday.

Band camp starts tomorrow, after school. The band exchange with Xinmin is canceled cause their band teacher in charge can't make it, geez. The plan for the camp is pretty boring, cause all we doing is practice. After school, practice. After dinner and shower, practice. Next morning after breakfast, practice. After lunch, practice. After dinner, practice, clean-up and then home on Saturday night. Basically, it's a simple 2D1N training camp.

Then on Tuesday, they'll be a camp organized by the Changi Sea Sports Club. A 4D3N camp. Half will be a sea expedition and the other half will be a land expedition. I don't know much about the land expedition but for the sea one we will be canoeing to Coney Island/ Pulau Serangoon from the sports club.

That's the route. The facilitator says if we lucky, can reach in 6 hours, lol.

That's all for today,

Cya!

There was Physics SPA in the morning yesterday. Gerald went to school earlier cause he had some QM stuff to take care of. I went later on so i could get more sleep, haha. I stayed in the band room for awhile before heading to Mr. Tan's homeroom. In the end, we didn't do any practical, but the corrections for previous experiments instead. Oh, we got scolded cause he was pissed about one of us SMS-ing Mr. Simen about the SPA last thursday.

The thing extended for 30 minutes, so we were free to go at 11.30am. I went to the band room to help tag the new stands. And I used the clarinet cork grease to oil the slides on my horn since the band doesn't have any slide grease.

Bugged Ms. Ong to treat us, and she did. Alif, Joshua, Gerald, and I followed Ms. Ong and Farihin to Hougang Mall's KFC. There, lunch was on Ms. Ong.

Later, we went up to Popular cause Ms. Ong wanted to get a case for her laptop. In the end, she didn't buy anything, but i got a case of 50 DVDs. Ms. Ong lent me her member card, so there was a $7 discount. (:

Before going home, Alif, Joshua, Gerald, and I hung around the fitness corner near Alif's block.

Thursday, March 1, 2007

Hi guys, whats up.

I just searched 'Montfort Secondary' on blogger search and realised my blog is the top of the list, lol. I guess it's very easy for Mr. Simen to find my blog.

Joshua and Aaron are at my house now. Wonder why? Let's go back to the start of the day.

Yesterday, there were rumours floating around that today was half-day. It was confirmed today during assembly. We put our bags in our homeroom and went to the hall.

Mr. Simen talked to us there, about MINNATIVE (his new project). Then later the Sec 3s stayed in the hall for the camp briefing.

Later, we had an early recess until 12pm. We were supposed to have Physics SPA after recess, but Poh Shen smsed Mr. Simen to ask him to talk to Mr. Tan about the SPA. So he did, and the SPA was canceled. But then Mr. Tan now brought it forward to this saturday, zzz.

Went home myself after school. Gerald came back with Aaron because we were going to library@esplanade to get some scores. Joshua came later. At around 3pm, we left for Esplanade.
Anyway, it was my first time at the library. Have to say it's really cool. Photocopied off a few pages from 48 Etudes for Horn and another horn solo book.

Later, we went to PS with the intention of watching a movie but we just ate at Mosburger.

After eating, the two came back to my house again cause Aaron had to take back his 6.5kg school bag.

Sorry for the lack of interesting posts. I'm in a lazy mood currently.
